Privacy Policy

VIME is a Google Workspace™ add-on for Google Slides™ that connects a Google Sheets™ model to your presentation and renders interactive charts. This policy explains what information VIME accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored. It applies to the VIME add-on ("VIME", "we").

Information VIME accesses

VIME requests the minimum access needed to function, and only while you are using it:

• A single Google Sheets™ you choose. Using Google's file picker, you explicitly select one spreadsheet to connect. VIME is granted per-file access (the drive.file scope) to only that file — it cannot see any other files in your Google Drive™.
• The presentation you have open. VIME can read and edit only the currently open Google Slides™ presentation (the presentations.currentonly scope), so it can insert chart images onto your slide.
• Cell values in the connected spreadsheet. When you press Calculate, VIME writes your chosen input values into the cells you configured and reads back the output cells to draw charts.

How VIME uses this information

The information is used solely to provide the add-on's features to you: running your model, drawing charts in the sidebar, and placing a chart image onto your slide. VIME does not use your content for advertising, and does not sell or share it — see Sharing, transfer, and disclosure of Google user data below.

Sharing, transfer, and disclosure of Google user data

VIME does not share, transfer, or disclose your Google user data to any third party. We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than the ones provided in this policy.

• No third-party recipients. There are no advertisers, analytics vendors, data brokers, marketing partners, hosting providers, or subprocessors that receive your Google user data. There is no category of third party with whom this data is shared.
• No transfer to VIME. VIME operates no servers, databases, or backends of its own. Your spreadsheet values, presentation content, and configuration never leave Google's infrastructure, and are never received by VIME or its developer.
• No sale of data. VIME does not sell, rent, or licence Google user data to anyone, under any circumstances.
• No use for AI or machine learning. VIME does not use Google Workspace™ data obtained through Google APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
• No human access. No VIME developer, employee, or contractor reads your Google user data. It is processed only by the add-on's code, running in your own browser and in your own Google Apps Script™ execution context.
• Legal requests. Because VIME holds no copy of your data, it has nothing to produce in response to a subpoena, court order, or government request. Any such request would have to be directed to Google as the custodian of the data.
• Change of control. If VIME were ever sold, merged, or transferred, no Google user data would move with it, because none is held. Any change to this policy would be posted here before taking effect.

What VIME stores, and where

• Your setup — which spreadsheet is connected, which cells are inputs and outputs, chart types, and layout — is stored using Google's built-in add-on storage (Properties Service) inside your presentation and your Google account. This is what lets your configuration reload the next time you open the deck.
• VIME does not operate its own servers or database, and does not transmit your spreadsheet data, cell values, or presentation content to any VIME-controlled system or third party.
• Because the connected spreadsheet's identifier is stored within the presentation, anyone you share the presentation with (as an editor) may be able to see which spreadsheet is connected.

How VIME protects your data

Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your data, including data that may be sensitive, such as the contents of a financial model. Because VIME keeps no copy of your data outside Google's own infrastructure, the protections below apply to it where it lives.

• Encryption in transit. We use encryption to protect your information. All communication between the add-on, Google Sheets™, and Google Slides™ takes place over HTTPS/TLS. VIME is served exclusively over TLS by Google Apps Script™ and makes no unencrypted connections; usevime.com is served over HTTPS.
• Encryption at rest. Your spreadsheet, your presentation, and VIME's stored configuration all reside in Google Drive™ and Google's Properties Service, where Google encrypts them at rest.
• Least-privilege access. VIME requests the narrowest scopes that let it function. The drive.file scope grants access only to the single spreadsheet you pick with Google's file picker, and presentations.currentonly only to the presentation you have open. VIME cannot list, read, or modify any other file in your Google Drive™.
• Access control and authentication. Your data is readable only by you and by those you have already granted access to those Google files. Access is bounded by your own Google account sign-in, including any two-step verification or administrator controls your organisation enforces. VIME never sees or stores your Google password; authentication is handled entirely by Google's OAuth 2.0 consent flow, and you can revoke VIME's authorisation at any time from your Google Account™ permissions page.
• Isolation between users. Configuration is written to a per-user, per-document store, so one user's stored settings are not reachable by another user.
• Data minimisation. VIME retains nothing beyond your configuration, and only for as long as the add-on remains installed. See Data retention and removal below.
• Incident response. Suspected vulnerabilities or incidents can be reported to vime.extension@gmail.com. Any incident affecting user data would be investigated on receipt and disclosed on this page and by email to affected users.

Third-party services

VIME runs on the Google Apps Script™ platform and uses Google APIs (Google Sheets™, Google Drive™ file picker, and Google Slides™). To render charts, VIME loads open-source JavaScript libraries (Chart.js and html2canvas) from the public Cloudflare cdnjs content-delivery network. These libraries run inside your browser; VIME does not send your model data to them.

Website analytics

This website (usevime.com) uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand how people arrive here — for example, which page they landed on and whether they came from a search engine or a link. This is standard, aggregated website measurement: it tells us how many people visited, not who they are, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

This applies to the website only. The VIME add-on itself does not send your spreadsheet data, your slides, your file names or your identity anywhere for analytics purposes. Nothing from inside your model leaves your Google account.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or by using your browser’s own tracking-protection settings.

Data retention and removal

Your setup persists in your presentation and Google account until you change it, run setup again, or remove VIME. You can disconnect at any time by uninstalling the add-on and, if you wish, clearing its stored configuration via the add-on's settings. Uninstalling revokes VIME's access to the connected file and presentation.

Children

VIME is a productivity tool intended for general and business use and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the add-on evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
